June 2020 Scholarship Appreciation Letter
Dear Donor,
On behalf of The Public Education Foundation, our thoughts are with you and your loved ones during these uncertain times. With so many families impacted economically by this pandemic, your contributions to support scholarships to our youth is more critical now than ever.
Given the growing concerns around COVID-19, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the annual Scholarship Recognition Luncheon. It was a difficult decision because we look forward to celebrating our well-deserving awardees and honoring our generous donors. We know that many of you look forward to this special event that sets time aside for a student to get to know, network, and celebrate with their donor. We want you to experience this connection … in a safe way. Your scholarship recipient has provided a message of appreciation below to thank you for making a difference in their life.
In the 25 years since its inception, the Scholarship PLUS program at the Public Education Foundation has not wavered in its commitment to students and their families. With your help, and that of other generous donors and community partners, the Scholarships PLUS program is helping to ensure that students attend and complete college or vocational school. This year, we awarded $2.7 million in scholarships to over 600 students. Our collective efforts are detailed in the accompanying 2019-2020 Impact Report. Also included is our Annual Recognition Program, which is available online at thepef.org.
The longevity and continued success of the Scholarship PLUS program is the direct result of our talented youth, a dedicated Board of Directors, and the many generous donors and community partners who have invested so much. It is your dedication to our young leaders that remind us our future is in great hands.
Stay well,
Judi Steele and Kristen Searer
Dear Donor,
I cannot say thank you enough! Obtaining this scholarship means so much to me as an individual. I appreciate your carefu consideration towards helping me out in such a massive way. I plan on using this scholarship to help me obtain my degree in hospitality management, alongside a degree in hotel management. My family was really worried about how we would fare in paying for college, but every single step, especially one of this magnitude, helps tremendously. I feel reassured to know that with this scholarship, I am not going to college on my own. I have people helping me that I haven’t even met before. It is almost like having a big brother watching out for me, making sure that I am not alone with every step I take. I said it before and I’ll say it again, thank you from the very depths of my beating heart. I appreciate your support in giving me the Children’s Service Guild of Southern Nevada Scholarship.

Dear Donor,
I am so beyond blessed and so grateful to be able to accept this scholarship. I love school and I think it should be greatly appreciated. I plan on double majoring in psychology and political science, and hope to end up becoming a lawyer. The scholarship will give me a lot of opportunities throughout my first year of college through dorm life. I am living in the dorms my first year, so I am able to get to know the school I am attending better and to be able to do some extra curriculars on campus. I am so grateful for this scholarship, and you chose the right person because I plan on doing big things in my life during college and after college. Again, I thank you for choosing me to be this scholarship recipient and I’m so blessed. Thank you so much.

Dear Donor,
I cannot express the amount of gratitude I have for the Children’s Service Guild of Southern Nevada Scholarship. It means a lot to know that strangers believe in me and believe that I an succeed. I have worked very hard for opportunities like this and through all the hardships, gifts like these are what keep me pushing. You guys have given me a push and taken some of the weight off my shoulders with college and I am beyond thankful for the opportunity that has been given. My plans are that in the fall I will be attending UNLV for their Healthcare Administration and Policy Program, also I will be declaring a minor of philosophy of concentration Law and Justice. After receiving my degrees I want to continue my education at Boyd School of Law to become a healthcare lawyer and practice in a hospital.

Dear Donor,
I have enlisted in the Army National Guard, so I will first complete my training and become a helicopter mechanic to serve my country. After I fulfill this goal, my dream is to travel the country and help children with speech delays. I am very excited to go to University of Nevada where I will earn my masters in Speech Pathology and Audiology with a minor in Sign Language. My interest in this field sparked because my family fostered a wonderful child that came to us with almost no form of communication. We nurtured them back to health and they were eager to learn how to talk. They had trouble speaking and I really enjoyed the opportunity to help this child. With this scholarship I received, I can continue to help children on their journey to communicate with the world around them. And I cannot thank you enough for giving me this chance to achieve my dream and continue my education.
