Peggy’s Attic 18th Anniversary, October 18, 2019
Originally opened on October 18, 2001, today Peggy’s Attic celebrated 18 years of serving the children and families of Clark County. Thank you to the hard-working staff who continue this amazing legacy and make it a vital resource of our community’s caregivers and foster families!
We help fund the Attic monthly!
Congratulations to the Children’s Guild on 50 phenomenal years!
I have had the pleasure of a nearly 20 year relationship with the Guild in working towards the acquisition of our building, and 18 years of working with you from within Peggy’s Attic. Mainly because of the guidance and vision of the former Manager of Child Haven, Peggy Leavitt, with a little from me, the dream of a place to serve the children under protective custody in Clark County came true.
Your continual monthly financial support has made it possible to have much needed items in the Attic. It has always been my honor to work with you all, and I look forward to another 50 years. Some of my greatest memories revolve around items of need that were brought by the Guild specifically for the Attic.
- One instance in particular is of a Grandmother, who in the midst of a terrible family tragedy, founder herself having to take custody of her grandchildren and having to come to the Attic for some items whose grandchildren needed. We provided her with a stroller, clothing, toys, shoes, and many other incidentals that would not have been possible without having those resources from you. Grandma almost fell to the floor in thanks. Tears flowed from all that were present.
- One other story is about a little 8-year-old boy who was able to put on his first ever pair of shoes that were brand new; were neither too tight or too large and did not have holes in them. He walked around the Attic with them on like we had handed him the keys to the world. Here truly was a picture that was worth a thousand words.
Again, my deepest appreciation to the Children’s Guild. You will always hold a special place in my heart.
Congratulations,
